Client work: Visualizing Density, Having Fun with Mass and Volume

Now this one was really fun to do for Rasmussen College.  Density is a concept that can be hard to conceptualize.  You can have to bricks of something the same size, yet one is 10 lbs and the other 1,000 lbs.  So I created a standard format to help visualize the density of all kinds of stubstances, from the lease dense stuff in the universe, Interstellar Medium, to the most dense, a Black Hole.

After getting trashed on reddit (as expected) I made a few corrections.  So here it is.  If you support my work please Digg and retweet and spread the scientific goodness.

I really like this one, Jess. I like, too, the comments on the wieghts — like bread with jam or your average cat. Nice work.

I like the concept, but I would make the “representative” object more suggestive. I had to keep reminding myself which amorphous cube was constant volume/mass.

Something like one of those triangular weights for the variable mass and a balloon or blimp or something stretchy for the variable volume would be cool.
