Due to the over whelming response to the previous post, 389 years ago, I will be reformatting the graphic to fit in a 14”x 48” limited edition screen print. I have to reformat it because if the graphic were printed out as is, with a 12” width, it would be over 11 feet long, and that’s annoying.

So it will be a three or four color screen print which is much more handsome than being spit out of an offset printer. Screen prints are a bit more expensive to produce than offset posters so the price will probably be in the $30-$40 range and I will consider running a discount for educators.

48” by the way is the height of the average 7 year old.

So since I am reformatting the image, this gives me the opportunity to include any particular event I may have missed. If you feel strongly that something should be included, just post a reply. I will be going through the replies of the previous thread also. Keep an eye on this blog for updates concerning this poster.

And since someone told me not to post a blog entry without some image, here is one of Forest at Halloween.

I love your work. Is there a way to let me know when the 389 Years Ago poster will be available?

Do you have any interest in doing a similar poster of geologic time? Maybe condensing 4.5 billion years into 14″ X 48″? Formation of the earth… first single cell organism… first multicellular organism…. first fish… dinosaurs appear… first mammals… dinosaurs extinct… first hominids… first grilled cheese sandwich… You get the idea.

Phil, the time frame I am looking at is to get the 389 poster done by the 5th and printed and shipped in about 14 days after that, so it won’t be in peoples hands by Christmas, but hopefully shortly after. It will make a great inauguration present though!

I like the geologic time idea too. I have seem some other posters out there that deal with some of that, here is one that deasl with the history of the universe, http://www.worldviewposters.com/universal%20heritage%20poster.htm . It’s not the most aesthetic thing, so maybe there is room for improvement.

Thanks for the info about the “worldviewposters” site. I agree that the poster, while very complete, is less than aesthetically pleasing. I’d love to see one that helps viewers understand the scale of deep time, rather than switching time scales… a graphic challenge.

I enjoyed what I read. Some information I knew. Very educational also because I was not born in this country. I would love to have your poster as soon as it is available. Many of our youngster need to know where we came from and where we are headed. Keep up the good work, Jess.
